A 221 next to 201! The 221 is a type called a 'featherweight', mostly because it is much much lighter than the other machines, Approximately 11 pounds, compared to about 50 for the 201!

Sewing machines from 1889-1948!

Slightly wounded...

No strenuous activity for me for a few days..
But here are some shots of the top of the cabinet progressing.
As you can see, the reflection gets clearer and clearer..

some shots in progress!

Well, here are some of the shots from my working on her!
I'll add them to the refinish page later.
Basically I sanded the old finish off, then lightly coated her, then sanded, and then lightly coated again.
Not too complicated and she's really starting to look pretty

Add another machine to the pile!
A Scottish 201, belt driven, in a really cool cabinet with all accessories.
Cabinet needs refinishing, so I will document that as I do it and use it as photographic references for the refinishing guide thingy.. which I will endeavor to restart soon!

So, you can see the after and before pics here. I got this wonderful machine from a lovely lady, complete with all the original fiddly bits and stuff. The cabinet, as she put it, came with "Free dust and cat hair included! No extra charge!" and as you can see it cleaned up quite nicely :)
